The state of perfection is not binding but liberating

Perfection is a state which all beings in duality long . As a sleeping (sleeping in ignorance) individuals we all the time experience a state of non-fulfillment. Of some thing missing in life. A state which is consciously and unconsciously seeking perfection.

On further inquire into the nature of perfection , the what, why and where. We realize that the constant seeking in us is due to a state of non-contentment with the present, which is so say “what is”. What is or to see things as they are. There is some thing in us, which persistently tells us that there is a state of total satisfaction, of total fulfillment, of total happiness and completeness. A place or state which satisfies all our needs, from the physical to the least gross and subtle.

Well, do we have any subtle needs? Many would say that human beings requires only food, drink, sleep, clothing, shelter and sex! Aren’t these needs of our physical body met everyday? For majority, these needs have become basis of life, or in other words the type and quantity of these needs defines whether one is leading a quality life or not.

Does quality of life also mean that we are happy, satisfied and content? We should be so, if we agree that human being have only physical needs.

There are some who would suggest that human being is not just an animal but a social being. O.K. I agree to it. What does a social being require or need? Can the social being be happy and contented?

Well, yes if human beings get love, care ,attention, recognition and sense of identity, they would be happy. What love and sense of longing are we talking about?

The human to human love, the love of parents towards the child, the love between a man and women, the recognition of ones role in the society, the sense of national, regional and ethnic identify. All these help in making a human feel needed and hence satisfied.

What if a human being has all this and yet is not satisfied? There are human needs like hunger and sleep which are tangible. If you did not have good or healthy food last night you would know it while sleeping or early next morning. Subsequently you can choose the next time. But how do you know that the love and attention you are receiving from your lover or partner is right or sufficient for you? Off course when you have a lover and you still dream or imagine to be with some one else, then you know that your needs either on physical, emotional or intellectual level are not being meet by your partner. So, do we enquire into what love needs we as an individual have, understand it fully and then look for an another partner or do we just go on further as usual. Leaving a person who we thought some time back was our soul mate and could satisfy all our needs. Majority of human beings just follow a pattern of constant search, with out understanding who they are, what makes them the most happy and what exactly they are looking for in a partner.

Even human beings who know what they are seeking do not really understand themselves well. The problem is that, “we think we know”. The thinking part is the most dangerous element in human nature, for thinking implicitly includes thoughts and thoughts implicitly include creation, continuation and demolition of images.

That fact that you are not what you think you are is as real as a cat thinking that it’s a tiger. Surely, cats and tigers are related biologically yet they are totally different entities. If cats start to think that they are tiger and interact with their immediately environment accordingly, then surely they would join the human race in search for happiness and contentment.

Mental Images are a result of past memory, experiences and a need for continuation of similar or related patterns. Human beings are irresistibly seeking identity and security of that identity. First thing when we are born , we are told that we are boy or a girl and that sticking to these biological identities is important for existence. That a boy should behave, dress and cultivate qualities which help him become a man, women would love. The boy all his life tries to be a man, a women would like, but is never happy himself.

Can we do justice to an image? Can we be some thing what we are not? Does your partner love you for the image and love you per say. How long can we continue being in an image? Are we really happy being the imagine your partner or parents and society want? Is this bondage love? Is love binding or love is liberating ?

Am I suggesting that we not think at all? After all this world operates through thought and mind ´processes. But rather what I am suggested that we be aware of these multiple images in ourselves and see level of identification with each mental image that we create or stick to closely.

These are certain leads which each human being should inquiry deeply. Surely, lesser thoughts and a still mind can help greatly in this inward search for the real human being or the real self which perhaps you always wanted to know but never knew.

The following mantra or maha vakya will help you being constantly aware of the mind and its jugglery of images

"Any thing of mind and thoughts is binding, and any thing of your real self is liberating"

Om shivaya, om shivaya, om shivaya!
Om guru
Jai guru Om
